An infrared sensor opens the arms as a hand approaches and closes them once the phone touches the pad, so mounting and charging happen in one movement. It runs from a USB-C car charger you already own or buy separately; one is not in the box. Both a vent clip and a dashboard suction base are supplied, since cars differ in where there is room.
