The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle (Board Book)

A tiny caterpillar hatches on a Sunday and eats through one more piece of food each day of the week before spinning a cocoon and emerging as a butterfly. Eric Carle's collage illustrations are bright and simple, and the die-cut holes through the pages invite small fingers to follow the caterpillar. The board book format has thick card pages that toddlers can turn themselves. It quietly teaches counting, days of the week and the idea of change.
